Around the world cities are increasingly facing challenges regarding areas such as health, traffic, education, or public spaces. Governments and corporations have been mainly working on a top-down approach to solve those problems with different levels of success (and failure) in the past. Macau, our city, is no exception. The Maker Movement is proposing a creative problem-solving approach by the use of technology, creativity, and collaboration to find practical and low-cost solutions to daily life issues. This Hackathon is a one-day event in which programmers, designers, or any citizen willing to make a change, are gathered to collaboratively work on prototyping solutions for specific problems in the city. Each team’s project will propose a possible alternative to make our city a better place to live.Whether you have an idea for a project, or you are an expert, or you simply want to make a difference, join us for this unique experience. This Hackthon is co-organized by TIMC’s tech partners the Minchee Lab (Macau) and will count with an invited jury panel composed by local experts on the areas covered by the Hackathon proposed theme.General topic for this year: “Smart City”Keywords: IoT, open data, environment, citizenship, better life, hacking, education, health, public spacesMinchee Lab - the first fab lab in Macau to encourage creativity and inventions http://minchee.org
